At Camping des Salines, family vacations are ideal! From a dip in the heated pool to bike rides and pétanque tournaments, every day is full of smiles.
Just a few steps from the campsite, the Pain de Sucre walk will delight the youngest visitors: llamas, donkeys and pigs await them for a fun and educational encounter.
For a cultural family outing, don’t miss a visit to the Château de Laàs, just 20 minutes away: a magical place where young and old alike can plunge into history by discovering a collection preserved in the past during a visit to the Musée Serbat. Outside, the little ones can have fun on fun trails in the park, with riddles and an accrobranche area. Fancy a bit of exercise? Our campsite is an excellent starting point for all kinds ofoutdoor sporting activities. In the immediate vicinity, hikers and bikers can take the “voie verte” linking Salies-de-Béarn to the Castagnède bridge, a peaceful route through forests and hills.
Do you like water? Adventurers can go canoeing or kayaking on the Gave d’Oloron, or enjoy a game of tennis or pelote basque on the grounds close to the campsite. For a more relaxed time, join the city stadium or organize a soccer match. Here, nature becomes your biggest playground!
Markets and gastronomy in Béarn and the Basque Country
Vacations in Béarn are also an invitation to discover the local flavours (we know that this is a must for gourmets)! Every Thursday and Saturday morning, the market in Salies-de-Béarn, less than 15 minutes’ walk from the campsite, comes alive with the colorful stalls of local producers: farmhouse cheeses, hams, honey, jams, fruit and vegetables… A few kilometers away, the markets in Peyrehorade, Sauveterre and Navarrenx extend this gourmet discovery. Take the opportunity to sample the specialities of Béarn and the Basque country: piperades, ewe’s milk cheese, Espelette chilli pepper… An authentic culinary experience, a blend of human encounters and traditions.
